All Body Bags and No Knickers by Shawe Ruckus is a slow-burning mystery novel that exposes a web of lies that could fracture family bonds during an otherwise perfect honeymoon. Chance and Catherine's decision to honeymoon in China takes them on a journey filled with unexpected tension. As they arrive in China, they repeatedly encounter enigmatic strangers, and long-lost family members reappear after decades of estrangement. Catherine, who is also An's best friend, attempts to uncover the connections between these events while a heinous crime threatens their newfound family.

One notable strength of the book is its ability to engage readers with a compelling mystery right from the prologue. The opening scene, where a nurse hands over an envelope filled with slips to a man, immediately piques the reader's curiosity, setting the stage for a captivating storyline. This adeptly woven mystery element runs as a central thread throughout the narrative, keeping readers eagerly turning the pages to uncover the secrets hidden within. This book excels in its captivating mystery, skillful use of flashbacks, and strong characterization. The author's writing is professional and offers traces of humor. However, the plot unfolds slowly due to excessive world building and discussions of the characters' experiences in various locales. The book's adherence to genre tropes and introduction of numerous supporting characters without significant development are drawbacks.

The mystery in the book, however, unfolds rather slowly. Instead of diving into the suspenseful elements, the narrative focuses extensively on describing the locales the couple visits, such as restaurants, hotels, and spas. While the vivid descriptions of these places create an atmospheric backdrop, the story's pacing suffers as a result. The frequent detailed discussions about their experiences and cultural encounters slow down the narrative, leading to a lack of intrigue while I read this book.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars due to the issues I faced while reading it. I did not see any errors in this book, which shows that it was exceptionally well edited by the author. The book explores themes of mystery, family bonds, cultural exploration, travel, and identity, all of which contribute to its engaging narrative and character development. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy mysteries, cultural exploration, and character-driven stories. This will be a great read for you.
