This book uses the Stanford Rapist case (Brock Turner) as a basis for his argument that we should not blindly jump to hate as our first response yet learn to love everyone unconditionally no matter what. It builds up on this argument using various examples and constantly going back to Brock Turner's case, hammering home the fact that rage is a destructive and overwhelming emotion and that it is so much harder to love.

The concept and idea is a beautiful one which is explained in detail in this book. The points were well written, the argument itself logically structured and passionate with references from religion to back his point, using quotes. In addition, the writer, Scott, writes in such a way to rouse the reader and garner a response, directing the whole argument at the reader. Therefore each person reading this book will be left with a different experience, making it a very personal read.

However there are several spelling mistakes which made it difficult to read at some points and distracted me from the book as a whole. Furthermore, this book had too much repetition which becomes tedious during the end of the book as less and less new arguments were introduced.

I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars.

I loved the quotes taken from Martin Luther King and the Old Testament. Moreover, the book as a whole made me rethink how I look at people and at life as a whole. Nonetheless, I did not agree with the main sentiments of this book as it is against what I personally believe in. Someone who has done something wrong, such as sexually assaulting someone, deserves to be punished and should not be made to feel like he has done nothing wrong. It is wrong to push the act aside and concentrate on the fact that it is a human being, since actions speak louder than words and your actions are what define you as a person.

As Scott has said "It's easy to write, "I love Brock Turner"."

I would like for him to say the same thing if, god forbid, one of his family members was murdered or raped in the same, senseless way that Brock Turner raped that woman.

This book will be enjoyed by people who want to have a different look on life or believe that we should love people freely and unconditionally.
