[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We Are Voulhire is a book that takes us back to the days of ancient civilization when the rulers were known as kings governing kingdom. This book revolve around two different worlds; that is the world of magic and physical world. On the world of magic, this book turns its focus to the city of Voulhire and the surrounding cities. The kingdom of Voulhire had developed beyond expectations under the leadership of King Wilhelm. At the pick of Voulhire's prosperity a dark cloud was gathering around it, threatening its survival as a result of rebel forces from Riva Rohani gaining momentum and seeking to destroy the city. This is not the only threat the great city of Voulhire is facing but also it is faced with the fear of evil Lord Meldorath which is becoming stronger even though he is believed to be dead.Galen Gray who is a immigrant of war has learnt more about Voulhire and has come to fall in love with the city but he has also realised that there are individuals with evil intentions towards the place he calls home. Will he stand and defend the place he calls home or not? Will he stand and say WE ARE VOULHIRE?
What I have love about this book is the flows it has; does not break down amidst the independent narration. The book is well link from one series to another. The book also postulates different themes and the author has worked on creating link between them. Take for instance the theme of ambition and how it leads to destruction.Another thing that I have liked about the book is the flow of emotions and even emotions at particular points are clearly defined .Take for instance when Lord Eldus was killed it came with a lot of sadness as he was development oriented person.
Despite being a good I was dissatisfied with some of the language used. The book depicts the ancient times and therefore the language vocabulary should also depict the ancient times. The use of modern vocabularies like yeah does not portray the ancient times.
All in all I give the book 5 stars because it a good and interesting and educative book and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.
