David J. Lebenstein's novel Sent To Watch is a science fiction story filled with numerous plot twists that will captivate readers at every turn. The book follows three agents sent to Earth 48 on a secret mission from outer space as part of the Interplanetary Intelligence Service. Disguised as humans, they are tasked with observing the planet, but their true objectives and motivations remain a mystery. To uncover the answers, grab a copy of this intriguing book!

The tale revolves around three operatives deployed by the Interplanetary Intelligence Service to clandestinely observe Earth 48, also known as planet Earth. Upon landing in England, the agents assume human disguises and begin to acclimatise to their new surroundings. Their assessment of England reveals a society still grappling with the aftermath of wars, particularly the significant impact of the Battle of Waterloo. As they monitor the planet, the agents become aware of a looming threat as another mission prepares to invade Earth, jeopardising their own assignment. Bound by their mission directive to refrain from interfering with Earth's affairs, the agents find themselves torn between their duty and their instinct to protect the planet at all costs. Amidst these challenges, Uri and Unni navigate their growing feelings for each other and ultimately agree to become engaged. But can they successfully pursue their personal happiness amidst the impending invasion? Will the agents manage to thwart the pending invasion and save Earth?

The book has numerous positive attributes. For instance, I appreciate the inclusion of a glossary at the beginning, which helps readers understand unfamiliar language. The author's unique and engaging writing style is also a standout feature. The character names and their development are both distinctive and intriguing. I was particularly interested in the choices and emotions of Unni and Uri. The plot points were captivating and completely absorbed my attention. Additionally, the well-organised structure and the author's creative use of historical facts were also highlights for me.

In terms of drawbacks, there are few to mention. The editing was thorough, as I didn't notice any errors, indicating a professional touch. While the book started off slowly, it quickly gained momentum, ultimately not detracting from my overall enjoyment. I have a fondness for books about aliens, and this author's captivating novel cleverly portrays them as humans, sparking my curiosity about the possibility of a hidden extraterrestrial presence among us.

In summary, I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. It was truly engaging and captivating, with well-developed characters that made it a delightful read. I believe it would be particularly enjoyed by young readers who are fans of science fiction.
