Nimue: Freeing Merlin is a great book to read if you are interested in Celtic mythology.

Diving into Nina’s world, we begin to explore and understand her background and story. Once thought to be an ordinary average girl, she finds out she was once someone very important in a past life. To make things more exciting, her fate seems to be intertwined with that of Merlin, a powerful and great wizard. Nina, evolves throughout her journey into “Merlina” and showcases the strength of a woman as she discovers her place in the world.

The story draws you in as it takes you on an adventure surrounded by mythical creatures such as fairies and dragons, retelling classic tales to make them more interesting and exciting. At times the pace began to slow down, but this was compensated by the vivid imagery throughout the book that made you feel as if you were there with Nina herself.

This is additionally a great read for those who enjoy romance, as throughout the novel we begin to see Merlin and Nina’s romance begin to blossom, with Merlin ending up sealed inside a tree!

I will say though that the novel could have used some extra time. Some parts (mostly the exciting ones) seem to end just as quickly as they began. I believe that if maybe there were a few extra chapters, this novel could be a huge hit.

A great read, and well edited. Looking forward to more by this author, and reading the rest of the series!
