Hi, Esther, I agree with you that this book is an invaluable resource for those who want to make a mark in a specific market. If someone has a passion for something, does a lot of that something, and is good at doing that something, it stands to reason that the person should search for a niche in which they can provide their expertise as a service to those who need it. The challenge is to find out who needs this service. Niching Up shows you how to do this.

Niching also works very well. t is true, however, that specializing has its drawbacks. Those are especially evident at the beginning of the journey. Thanks!

Yes, specializing has it's drawbacks at the beginning, that's why Chris Dreyer suggests starting with a general audience before specializing so one can know can know where strength lies.

Your review has me thinking about social media in particular, as people also seem to have success finding niches in this sphere; there are plenty of examples I see daily on this topic! As I was reading the book, I was thinking of some of my favorite items that I use every day- most of those companies are niched. A travel mug from a company that only makes cups and water bottles, earrings from a creator who doesn't do any other types of jewelry, sweatpants from a company that specializes in organic cotton... I like these things for their high quality and strong brand identity. Sure I could get another travel mug, but instead I've bought three from the same company because they are very good (and dishwasher safe!) It seems that niching is often a good idea and can create the kinds of brands that have cult followings.

I've never come across this idea of focusing on one part of a business until I came across this book, Niching Up. I always thought that branching out helps expand your business.

Business is gradually evolving from the physical to the internet and the author did mention that, which I believe covers the part about social media. And yes, I have learnt a lot which I plan to apply in my prospective businesses and have kept this book handy for a reread when I'm ready to embark on this.

People will always prefer quality to quantity and niching does that because you can't have several products and be able to focus and get the most out of all. That is why niching is important.

I really appreciate this informative review. I think it is of great value when each person finds his or her niche specialization and hones in on that one skill. A doctor for example, decides to go into a niche specialty and then dedicates all his, or her education to that one niche specialty. This allows the doctor to become the best they can be in that one niche field and help people that need help with that one niche healthcare need.

By focusing on a specific niche, companies can position themselves as industry leaders, attracting more customers and increasing profitability.
