E.M.P. by Dorothy May Mercer is a fictional book that delves into sci-fi, mystery, and thrillers. We meet Kelly and Tom as they go on a trip to West Bay, Honduras, to spend their honeymoon vacation. During their stay there, Kelly goes out to explore the city. She stumbles upon a shop that sells pig gifts and decides to get something for her niece and nephew. She soon discovers that the shop is a cover camp for terrorists planning to attack North America. In fear, she escapes and calls her husband, Tom, and her brother, Mike, who is a senator. Kelly and her husband, Tom, take it upon themselves to seek ways to stop the attack.

E.M.P. is a thrilling book that is captivating and filled with interesting characters. It houses quite a large number of characters, as we see a few chapters being introduced with different characters. I have a few likes and dislikes about this book. Firstly, I love this book because it’s filled with suspense and it’s very thrilling. The book tends to captivate and enrapture the minds of its readers as they wonder and look forward to whether the terrorists will be successful in their attack.

Also, I find this book really educational. We learn more about “sun flare” and its dangerous effect on Earth. Also, we get to learn about the electromagnetic force (EMP), which is man-made destructive equipment. I do not find any profanities used in this book, which I really love, and there's also a little bit of romance involved in this book, which I love as well.

Nevertheless, I am not a huge fan of third-person narrative, being that it’s difficult to follow up on sometimes and it’s sometimes confusing as there is a constant jump from one character’s perspective to another character’s. Regardless of this fact, I still found this really interesting.

This book is well edited. I found it free of errors. It’s grammatically well structured, and the author made good use of his punctuation. The manner of writing is indeed remarkable, and it made it easier to understand. So I rate this a 5 out of 5. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially those who are into thrillers. It’s worth reading.
