I loved the book.

Galen Bray, a protagonist hailing from the war-torn Land of Princes, seeks a better life in Voulhire. Unaware of the dark history, he grapples with politics and corruption, taking on a responsibility bestowed upon him by Rowan. Lord Eldus, a benevolent king, aims to uncover mysteries involving Orlin and Meldorath, the rogue mage. The ruthless rebel group Riva Rohavi adds suspense, making readers ponder Lord Meldorath's secrets and Voulhire's fate.

The inclusion of a captivating map enhances the fantasy experience, while the author's use of first and third-person narratives skillfully distinguishes Voulhire's world from Galen's perspective. The gradual unveiling of mysterious characters and well-developed personalities enriches the story, allowing readers to immerse themselves in Matthew's fantasy realm.

Though the book starts slow and concludes with a frustrating climax, considering it's part of a series, a 4 out of 4-star rating reflects the immersive experience. Recommended for science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts, the tale weaves a tapestry of suspense and imagination in Matthew's world.
