Flaherty's crossing by Kayline MCFarren exceptional book by an award winning author deserving 3 out of 4-star rating. The story of love, hate and beliefs, a perfect mix for an exceptional read. A nostalgic story of Kate Flaherty's journey through the death of her father and saving her marriage. The charm and magnificence of McFarren's book injected a soul to the story. The style and attention to detail absorbs the reader into a personal association with Kate and her husband Drew. These points alone substantiate the awards and exceptional reviews of "Flaherty's Crossing".

Kate, a passionate and an independent artist with issues surrounding love and beliefs, struggling with her marriage and is facing doubts about her father and if he stopped loving her when her mother passed away. Kate's husband Drew, a successful attorney rapidly moving up the corporate ladder yet still dominated by the achievements of his now deceased father, is determined to make their marriage work and to persuade Kate that he can indeed be there for her, believes in her, and loves her.

Flaherty's Crossing is an emotional rollercoaster ride as McFarren delivers a delightful cast of characters, which include friends, family, hospice workers, and Kate's gossipy neighbor Wanda, each delivering a special message to the reader. The beauty of changing beliefs is exceptional literary intelligence as Flaherty's Crossing reminds the reader it is never too late to change, apologise, and forgive; a narrative that reminds one that love rise above time and place and can never die. To anyone looking for an intuitive and inspirational novel, I highly recommend Flaherty's Crossing.

There were a few minor glitches. The biggest one was the rushed ending. I believe McFarren could have done a better job justifying the vulnerability towards one’s beliefs in relation to Kate and Drew. The trustworthiness factor would have been better if the ending could have been a little more in depth. For me it was a bit abrupt ending which do not justify the beautiful emotional association developed between the reader and the book.

One of the most touching aspect of the story for me was McFarren’s insight into the consequences of childhood incidents on one’s beliefs and personality. This thing really outlined the whole story for me. Many authors write along the love hate storyline but the beauty of the evolving thoughts and beliefs over a life span was poured on the paper such exquisitely that every reader can associate to it somehow.

Overall, I thought McFarren did an incredible job. The plot was exciting, the writing was brilliant and they complemented perfectly. At the concluding point, an exceptionally good read.
