Although I am not a huge fan of audiobooks, I did enjoy using Audiobooks.com. They had a great variety of books to choose from. There wasn’t a book I looked for that I couldn’t find. I ended up listening to A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conon Doyle. It is an old book but I wanted to hear how they portrayed a classic. It is hard to make a classic interesting to me so I put Audiobooks.com to the challenge. I appreciated the voices that were used. Each voice felt very into the story. I could see the scene and characters in front of my eyes even though I wasn’t reading. This is a hard feat for me since my mind wanders frequently.
I have listened to an audiobook before through a different company. It was a much more interesting book but the voices didn’t catch my attention as much as they did on Audiobooks.com. I enjoyed listening to the narrators from Audiobooks.com more than those of the other company.
The look and color of Audiobooks.com makes it very appealing. It is easy to use. It was super easy to download. If you’re one of those readers that likes to analyze and makes notes about a book, do not get upset about that using audio. Although I am more of a visual person, Audiobooks does have a notes section on the left side of the app (if you’re using Apple). It has a section for all of your books, like a bookshelf. It’s also easy to quick to. The whole app is very user friendly.
Don’t have a book to read next? You can answer a few simple questions then get recommendations for books that meet your criteria. You click on the genre and the app shows you a list of covers of books. You click on the ones that you are familiar with a rate them out of 5 stars. Once you do this with 5 books, it gives you a recommended list.
Overall, I give this app a 4 out of 4 stars for an audiobook app. Will this change the way I read and get my books? No but that is solely because I am the type of person that has to have the book in my hands and on my shelf when I have finished it. This is a good idea though for when I have to go on a long road trip and am unable to read.
