In "My Spouse, My Friend," Ingiete Oyama (the author) skillfully revives a concise discourse on the values intrinsic in a pure traditional concept of marriage, a perspective often overlooked in Western societies. Ingiete Oyama not only dives into the role of women in marriage but also underscores the significance of men in the marital dynamic. The author highlights that in our current cultural climate, saturated with instances of "male-bashing" in media and entertainment industries, the importance of masculine leadership, both within and outside the home, can easily be forgotten. This book serves as a crucial reminder, excelling in its execution of this purpose.

The book adopts a persuasive writing style, incorporating the author's opinions, justifications and evidence to support her claims while showing real-life anecdotes. Oyama also employs a descriptive writing style to emotionally connect readers to the text by appealing to their senses.

Professionally edited and devoid of notable writing errors, the book is well-crafted. However, it's worth noting in the editing process the frequent use of the imperative symbol "!" even in non-imperative sentences, which could benefit from a more judicious application for enhanced readability.

In summary as the author states, this book is a “crash course on married life, from how to argue like adults to making financial plans for the future, and above all, how to get along with our in-laws”. Adding depth to the narrative, Oyama weaves references to the Christian Bible, lending substantive weight to the ideas presented. This, in turn, positions the book as highly recommended for the Christian community, offering valuable insights into how individuals can navigate marriage and cultivate happiness with their spouses.

Personally, there is nothing I dislike about this book, therefore, I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning about how to live happily in a marriage. The book maintains a commendable absence of swear words or profanity throughout its content. I am happy to rate this book 4 out of 4.
