[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
In Honduras for their honeymoon, newlyweds Kelly and Tom embark on separate activities: Kelly explores the area while Tom engages in sea diving. Kelly's curiosity leads her to a pigsty shop, where the charm of the place captures her attention. In her search for the shop manager, she stumbles upon a mysterious backroom filled with beeping computers engaged in peculiar activities. Startled by six individuals chasing her out, she urgently contacts her brother Senator Mike for help.
The narrative in the book unfolds seamlessly, allowing readers to experience the suspense as Kelly, Tom, and their companions uncover the secrets within the pigsty store. The vivid descriptions vividly portray the contrasting elements of individuals striving to save the world and those with malicious intentions seeking chaos and terrorism.
However, a notable drawback surfaces in the story; it contains insufficient characterization for the main protagonists, Tom and Kelly. Throughout the book, a lack of connection to the characters leaves them feeling like mere figures within the plot.
I rate this book of 5 out of 5 stars. The absence of grammar errors showcases the book's excellent editing, contributing to a well-written narrative with a smooth flow. The action-packed and suspenseful scenes add to the book's appeal. Notably, the strong and empowering female protagonists engaged in the fight for their nation stood out as a commendable aspect.
This book is recommended for readers who relish adventure with a blend of action and romance. The story delivers thrilling action scenes, and its suspenseful narrative maintains an engaging flow, catering to those seeking an immersive reading experience.
