“The 11.05 Murders” by Brian O’Hare

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of “The 11.05 Murders” by Brian O’Hare]

The 11.05 Murders is a murder mystery novel written by Brian O’Hare. It begins with three murders happening all at the same time, 11.05. The crimes are also suspiciously connected to a rape that occurred 12 years ago. Detective Sergeant Denise Steward and her crew cannot put two and two together in the beginning and are unable to find the relation between these occurring events. However; it is very hard to ignore the photograph found on one the victim's computer and the time of the murder in all three cases. If this was not enough for a thrilling novel, the author also adds a stalker and a kidnapping just to make it even more enticing.

The story is a jam-packed action thrilling, nail-biting murder mystery novel that really has you hooked from chapter one. It begins in the past, providing some backstory and then, characters are introduced alongside the suspenseful and questionable incidents that twist and turn your mind into trying to figure out why this is all happening. There is romance embedded within the content, which was nice as well.

The flow between the chapters and paragraphs is smooth. The literary standard was admirable, and it was very easy to connect to Sergeant Steward and her situation. The issues demonstrated as a policewoman and the things she encountered in a prominently male dominated field are described perfectly, and I appreciated that very much. Her personality was strong, and although she had her flaws, it was still nice to see that the author delicately portrayed these in the story.

There are obvious scenes of violence, coarse language and topics that are not suitable for a younger audience. The content is fast-paced and carefully builds up momentum towards the end creating an even higher anticipation in finding out which character is the murderer. Everything about this story is well planned and put together and therefore I found it hard to find anything negative to mention.

As with every murder mystery novel I have reviewed, the ending is always the big reveal, and for this tale, it finished with a big bang. The story makes you doubt several possible leads before revealing the truth, and I enjoyed that.

For all the reasons mentioned above, I rate this book 4 out of 4. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good thriller.
