Have you recently been promoted as a manager? Are you about to become a manager? Do you have enough resources to ensure your success in the new role? Are you looking for clear and accessible advice on how you can build a successful team? The Successful Manager by Practical Approaches for Building and Leading High-Performing Teams is a book tailor-made for you. The authors of the book believe that becoming a top-tier manager should be every professional’s primary goal. They claim that if one absorbs and implements the skills enlisted in this book, they will grow to be an outstanding manager.

This is a perfect book for new managers. As a manager myself, I found the content to be highly relevant. Unfortunately, most organisations fail to equip their promoted staff with the skills required to succeed in their new roles. This book bridges the gap between professional expectations and the way they can be fulfilled.

My favourite section was the one where feedback and writing reviews were discussed. For any manager, getting and giving honest reviews is very crucial. This section of the book explains in detail how new managers can achieve this. Other chapters that discussed time management, setting clear goals, maintaining honest conversations, etc., were equally interesting and relevant.

There was nothing that I disliked about the book. It is professionally edited. There were no grammatical errors. The length is perfect. The book is well-structured and covers all aspects of becoming an excellent manager. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a book I wished I had read when I was newly promoted as a line manager. I highly recommend this book to professionals feeling lost in their new roles. It is only natural to feel anxious about new and challenging responsibilities. Reading this book and implementing the advice will ease the transition to a managerial position. Readers will feel enabled to build high-performing teams that contribute to the success of any business.
