Randy Love... at your service is about a man by the name of Randy who just can’t seem to grow up. He is your typical third child textbook case of someone who is a little spoiled and dependent on others. In addition, Randy is self-centered, manipulative, stubborn, irresponsible and selfish, a complete opposite of his two older siblings who are highly successful and independent. Randy continuously disregards advice from his family and flocks from place to place in search of an easy life. As a result, he consistently gets into trouble of his own making and expects his father and his siblings to rescue him every time.

What I liked most about the book is the start up of the story. The characters come alive at the beginning with humor scenes that set up the atmosphere of the book as well as the characters’ personality. From Randy himself to the crazy lady next door, every character has an attribute that is relatable and lifelike making it pleasant to read.

What I did not like about the book was basically the entire middle portion of the story. More specifically I did not like the change that the book took. The humorous scenes have died out, and the characters became very predictable, especially Randy. Page after page it was the same situation over and over again which made it boring to read. Except for subtle changes here and there, the main character exhibited no growth throughout the book. Randy exhibited the same behaviors expecting the same results and acting completely surprised when he would fail. It was not until in the last few pages of the book that there was a drastic change of heart for Randy. But the road to that change, for the most part, was the same and unexciting.

I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. I gave a rating of two stars and not three or four because as I mentioned earlier, except for the beginning and the end, the book was kind of boring and monotonous. I wish there were more exciting situations that Randy could have gotten into and more growth that was noticeable throughout the book.

I gave this book two stars and not one because the book did start out great. It was funny, entertaining and the characters were very relatable and overall it was a quick read. I also gave this book two stars because I believe this book had great potential. If it was a little bit more developed, it could have been the ultimate journey into adulthood and self-discovery. If the book had continued in the way it started out, it would have been great.

I think this book will appeal most to those who might be stuck in a loop and might need to see themselves from another perspective. This book would also suit those who are looking for a quick easy read.
