When I chose Who Told You That You Were Naked?by William Combs to read I wanted to see what his thoughts were on Adam and Eve and what happened recorded in Genesis. I also wanted to see how much of the Bible was used or if it was just his thoughts with no information back up.

Well I was surprised to see a book that went into whole bible and gave me a taste for more research and learning on my thoughts. He does so with seriousness and lots of humor that people today would understand. For example he likened Genesis 2:21 as “world's first reconstructive surgery” and 2:22 as “post op” and how he added the words like “Eureka” when Adam first saw Eve.

He sets up each chapter with comical sections like “God's plan for the newly weds” in chapter 1. He gives you great thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter not as a “what did you learn” type but a “ what do you think about this” type.
I really liked how he brought out the different types of death:
Relationship
Spiritual
and Physical

He links both New and Old testaments to show that they are linked. Such as when he brought in Galatians 5:22 to link with Genesis 6:3 where it says that “sin will not abide in man forever,....”

I really liked it when he added different possible thoughts and actions to what was in the scriptures such as when Adam was asked what he had done by God, Eve was there glaring at him. The scriptures do not say that but it adds to the feel and imagery of the scriptures.

He also adds in some personal testimonies as to how God and Jesus have worked in his life and those close to him.

Some of the things I did not like was he mentions what the meanings of different Hebrew words and yet does not show you the word. So really you can't gain accurate knowledge of what the word is just the meanings of some words in Hebrew.

Also I can see how in this case and Bible used did not have God's name so it is not mentioned. Although some other Bibles today are using it as Yaweh, and even the more commonly known version of Jehovah. Such as in Psalms 83:18 and first used in Genesis 18:13. This can be confusing to those that are using another Bible.

On the whole I will give this book 4 out of 4.
I really liked it and was encouraged by it even though my beliefs differ in places from his. It was a great study aid for me to use with my Bible to strengthen my beliefs and love for God.
I believe it can be used as a study aid or to help someone know more about Jesus, his love for us, and God himself.
