Review of Nimue: Freeing Merlin (Barnes & Noble Edition)

I really enjoyed this read. The storyline is not only engaging but surprising till the very end. The writing was beautiful & quite detailed & well researched. I loved the romance parts & the character development. I saw the heroine evolving through the trials, with insightful revelations and facing intense emotions that got me to relate to her and get enthralled in the storyline. Even when it got to be otherworldly, I was still captivated by the adventure and it’s twists and turns.
The fact that it focused on the empowerment of the feminine essence was not only present throughout the story, but it came with a few curveballs that were well-developed & quite surprising. It felt like a well grounded realisation that is also part of my nature, hidden by the eyes of the modern world. It kept me captivated & eager to keep reading it & find out what else reveals itself as it all unfolds, one mystery discovery at a time.
I also feel I rediscovered a part of myself as I read this & when I reached the end, I managed to see it differently & felt it be empowered as well. The symbolism felt very appropriate & powerful for the story & the magic is ever present. Truly, it has been a treat to indulge in & I'm not usually easily impressed but am quite critical by nature.
The spiritual, mystical & myth aspects are delicately interconnected & they weave a delicious world that I wish there were more parts of.
The only negative aspect I can muster is a positive one in disguise: I wish there was more of it to read. With an ending so skillfully developed, I doubt there could be a continuation & it would've been a disappointment to drag it out instead of the revelatory last few scenes. I'm sure they will come as a surprise to everyone who reads it.
