[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
The book,"We are Voulhire, A New Arrival under Great Skies," by Matthew Tysz is a book that captures not only power dynamics and politics but also takes us to a world where politics, leadership and power meets magic to create a perfect combo in an era where mages exists and it's visible to see how the combo was so perfect through how effective the Voulharian leadership was compared to the other two Princes' islands which were often in wars.
The author takes us on an adventure to the great land of Voulhire and its small towns and lets the reader live a fascinating fantasy by giving a vivid description of this beautiful land and a clear picture of how pretty the Voulharian towns were and it's surrounding ,the sea. The author also explains to us how hardworking the Voulharian citizens were and how observant, loyal and respectful they were to their leader, King Wilhelm. Reading this book made me to not only explore the whole Voulhire but also join Galen on his adventure to Magnum Caelum just from the beginning.
The author also addresses some of the problems that faced Voulhire such as pedophilia and Immigration issues. He explains how pedophilia was a major problem to the people of Hillport during Lord Orlin's reign and immigration is addressed when Galen was to travel from the Prince's Island to Magnum Caelum where immigration was only allowed under special circumstances.
I like the way the author used cliffhanger style in the whole book giving the book a perfect plot and how he creatively connected various threads of the plot making the book more interesting and captivating. This not only left me in suspense but also left me with the urge to know more on how things went in different scenarios. We even get to see the connection between Lord Meldorath, Lord Eldus and the King, the mysterious disappearance of Lord Meldorath and how Eldus got to be the leader at Hillport.
I love how the author wrote this book simple, fascinating and interesting making it easier to read. I found nothing to dislike in this book and I love the fact that it was well edited and has zero typo errors. I loved opening every page in this book as it just gave me some kind of excitement.
I recommend this book to anyone with a blended taste of fantasy, adventure, power and politics. It's such an interesting and lovely book .
I'm happy to rate this book a five out of five stars.
