Sooner or later, a majority of us will be stepping into the retirement stage. This book is about retirement and helps readers get the most out of it.

Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer talks about retirement planning as planning ahead of time. It is a self-help book for readers to plan towards relaxation after retirement. The book was written in a first-person tone with 13 chapters, each giving a step in retirement planning. The author first talked about income and considered it the starting point for any retirement planning. He advised readers on planning ahead and the several benefits that come from it. It talks about the broad benefits of investments and life and property insurance. The author gave some questions for readers to ponder on and credits to specific websites at each chapter’s end.

The author also used his personal experiences as an example for readers to learn from. He advised readers to undergo several assessment tests and offered websites that could be helpful, some of which I researched out of curiosity. The book introduced me to 401(k), which would be very useful to retirees. The last chapter gave lists of books associated with retirement planning, which readers might be interested in.

I found nothing negative about the book. I enjoyed the flow of reading and found no boredom due to the jokes in the book for comic relief. The use of links in the table of contents for easy redirection was superb. I also liked the addition of quotes and facts written in boxes. The book wasn’t lengthy, but it still contained lots of information and advice. I found no errors while reading, owing to the book’s exceptional editing. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. One captivating part was telling readers to have fun before retirement and change careers if they had lost interest.

The book is generally recommended and should be read by mature people closer to retirement.
