In the first installment of the We Are Voulhire series, We Are Voulhire: New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, readers are immersed in a captivating introduction to the intricately woven fabric of the Voulhire multiverse. Divided into three distinct dimensions, we discover the Cosmos, where humanity navigates time and space, Caromentis, the realm of magic, and Alithea, the ethereal spirit universe. Surrounded by a large sea lies Voulhire, a country facing threats from the enigmatic inhabitants of the Uninhabitable North, led by the formidable Vidius Crodai and the Riva Rohavi. In contrast, Voulhire thrives under the benevolent rule of King Wilhelm Arcolo. To the south, the Emperor of Lullabies rules over a mysterious land inhabited by shadowy creatures. His 4 sons preside over the tumultuous Lands of Princes, which are perpetually engulfed in war.

At the core of the narrative stands Galen, a young man hailing from the tumultuous Lands of the Princes, who escapes his homeland to reside in Voulhire following the inheritance of his late uncle's forge. What ensues is a whirlwind of danger and intrigue driven by themes of avarice and entrenched animosities, culminating in events that grip readers with suspense.

I am giving this book as a 5 out of 5 for quality and a 4 out of 4 for recommendation. As a fervent admirer of fantasy literature, I was captivated by this book, finding it a thrilling and gratifying read that ticks all the boxes for a captivating storyline. Filled with tension, gore, and intriguing psychological twists, it evokes a sense of high stakes. The characters were vividly depicted with raw intricacy, and the plot was expertly woven to be both intricate and intense, immersing me in a realm brimming with secrets and peril. Though the tale may have commenced at a slower pace, it became apparent that this was a deliberate decision by the author to gradually construct tension and anticipation for the impending developments, ultimately leading to a gripping climax.

Matthew Tysz's prose was not only eloquent but also impeccably polished, showcasing a flair for storytelling that held my attention from start to finish. While most of the narrative unfolds from a third-person perspective, the shift to first-person when portraying Galen's viewpoint added an intriguing layer that fostered a deeper bond with the character. With this being just the initial installment in the series, I am eager to delve further into the Kingdom of Voulhire and its inhabitants. Having already devoured two sequels and currently engrossed in the third, I applaud the author for crafting a tale that sparked my imagination and captivated me throughout, cementing my newfound appreciation for his artistry. Matthew Tysz has undeniably earned a devoted follower in me, and I eagerly await the unfolding of the next chapter in this enthralling saga.
