Belle Ami’s Escape is a romantic thriller set in the modern nuclearized Middle East, where Iran purposefully maintains the making of nuclear weapons.

Cyrus Hassani is the assistant to the deputy director of Oghab 2 at the Ministry of Intelligence and Security in Iran. He is also a Mossad agent spying for the government of Israel. Cyrus’ life is driven by his work and mission; as a spy to a ruthless nation, he has seen horrific things and is always living on adrenaline. He has no room for love or any form of emotional connection. So what does he do when a beautiful girl falls under his protection and he has to sacrifice his life’s mission?

Layla Rose Wallace is a Harvard student and the daughter of a renowned nuclear physicist. She and her rich Saudi boyfriend, Zamir, are kidnapped while in Dubai and taken to Tehran, Iran. Due to her relation to a renowned nuclear physicist, Layla is a target of blackmail. She finds solace in the company of agent Cyrus, her savior commanded to take her home.

As his final mission in Iran is to get Layla out of the country, Cyrus blows his cover as a spy and his treason act angers his boss so much that he challenges every effort Cyrus and Layla make to leave the country. With his emotions on Layla baffling him despite his cold heart, Cyrus is uncertain on the success of his mission and their survival. Will Cyrus and Layla make it out of Iran safely?

In this book, the romance between the two characters is alluring and beautifully written. I like this book as the plot did not make it easy for the characters. They faced tough challenges with their enemies on hot pursuit constantly. The thriller element makes the book inviting, not wanting to put it down. While the book broaches on the important subject of war and nuclear, it does not take away the beautiful story of Cyrus and Layla from the readers’ minds. This book is especially written for the lovers of love with the passionate thrill in fighting love or fighting for love. I also like the author's stand on a nuclearized Middle East. She does not support it and this is shown clearly by basing the character as a spy to Iran to ensure the manufacturing of the weapons does not come to completion.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was an exceptional read and very captivating. It touches on some of the life’s challenges people living in war-zoned countries face, like in the Erin Prison. It is educative as well, as it mentions different parts of the Iran and Israel countries. I would recommend this book to the romance book lovers, a love story with a bit of thrill.
