[Following is a volunteer review of "Smart Love" by Vincent Fudge II.]
"Smart Love" by Vincent Fudge II is a book that shares strategies for enhancing marriage by drawing from the author's personal experiences. The book serves as a guide, offering advice based on the successful approaches that the author employed to improve his marriage. The advice in the book is clinical; the book was well-edited, and the information was conveyed in a manner that was easy for me to understand. He clarifies the importance of communicating your goals to your partner by explaining that, in a relationship, one person may believe that a particular action or effort in a certain area is necessary for the relationship to progress. However, their partner may have different expectations, and if the actions taken do not align with what the partner seeks, it has the potential to result in a feeling of not being fully appreciated for the efforts put in.
He also emphasizes enhancing communication in a relationship through the utilization of the Conversation Receptiveness Score (CRS), which is a concept I found to be interesting. Although the book provides advice on relationship improvement, its compelling aspect lies in the vivid storytelling of the author's journey. The narrative unfolds the intriguing events of how he ended up in jail, the valuable lessons derived from that experience, his proactive measures to enhance the relationship, and the candid exploration of the missteps and corrections in his approach, making it a captivating read. I thoroughly enjoyed what went on in his marriage, and it is what kept me hooked on the book.
The highlights of it are that it provides a step-by-step and pragmatic approach to how to improve your relationship. It conveyed the extremes of their relationship—their best moments and their worst moments. One downside of the book is its structured, step-by-step advice, which may not appeal to those not inclined toward such an organization. Hence, I recommend it to individuals who prefer a systematic approach to improving relationships and see the growth of their marriage as a project.
This does not affect the book in any major way; hence, I am going to give it an ideal rating of five out of five since it provides advice on how to improve a relationship while being an interesting book at the same time.
