[Following is a volunteer review of "A Walk Through the Grapes" by David Jackson.]
The book A Walk Through the Grapes which is written by David Jackson, is a mystery/thriller book. The book follows the story of the Grazer family, with the main character, Jace Grazer, returning to his home in the small town of Willowcreek, after a few years of staying in New York City. After arriving home, he feels his family is hiding a secret from him. The book shows how Jace is desperate to find out the secret, and in the journey, he comes across dead neighbors and secret tunnels.
I rate the book four out of five. The book is full of twists and turns, and I wasn't ready for all of them. It keeps you guessing till the very end of the book. The book very nicely depicts the idea of family love and how one can do anything to protect their family. I thought the storyline between Jace and McKenzie (the sister of Ally, who is Jace's ex-girlfriend) wasn't needed, and it showed in their abrupt ending. The book had me on the edge at the end of every chapter. I deducted a star because of its editing. I thought that the book was poorly written and edited in terms of grammar.
I feel that the author could have added a short plot about Jace's life in New York and what led him to come back to his town. I also felt that some of the side characters, like Jace's other siblings and Macie, didn't get the proper ending they deserved. The book had some big chapters, but because of the thrill, it didn't bore me. For some reason, I didn't expect much after reading the synopsis, but the book was definitely worth my time. You can pick this book if you love mysteries and thrillers; you should definitely give this one a try!
