[Following is a volunteer review of "A Walk Through the Grapes" by David Jackson.]
David Jackson’s A Walk Through The Grapes features a lost soul (Jace Grazer) coming home to his family after a failed run at life. The choices he made to become a young dream chaser two years earlier and leaving them behind would always haunt him. So much so that he felt like everyone around him had their lives sorted out and he was being judged for his choices. It didn’t help that his siblings never missed an opportunity to remind him of it. The only opinion Jace found of importance was his father (Robert Grazer). Robert, having successfully built and ran a vineyard for over 22 years had great expectations for his family. To make matters worst Jace had left behind his one true love (Ally Harper) to pursue his career, further souring his home coming.
One fatal accident during a night of fun causes the police to come knocking. With one sibling missing Jace must uncover great mysteries surrounding both the disappearance and accident. It is only when he uncovers that his family, is well and truly involved, that he starts to feel like a true outsider. The biggest secret of them all being within the Grazer ranks.
This great book of Mystery features cliff hanger after cliff hanger on every chapter with a sprinkle of Romance, which had me on a rollercoaster. By three quarters of the book I was hurried to know what the end results were. The suspense was so spine gripping I even wondered what I would have done when faced with similar situations as a parent? As secrets came to light the suspense created paranoia within me and I could only imagine countless plot twist coming to the end of the book. Never could I have imagine it’s ending as no stone was left unturned.
The authors writing style paired with such thorough editing skills made A Walk Through The Grapes an easy read. Not to mention his accuracy and attention to detail. For which I deem this book a 5 out of 5 stars. A Walk Through The Grapes kept me intrigued from start to finish. Its characters were simple and remind me of everyday families maneuvering life. The ideas that David Jackson presented were outside the box and not predictable at all. Readers will certainly enjoy the exploration of his mind.
