[Following is a volunteer review of "The Elephant(s) in the Room" by Denny Laake and Monica Laake Beavers.]
The Elephant (s) in the Room: Another Sammy the Weasel Story by Denny Laake and Monica Laake Beavers is a short and funny story that follows the mysterious adventure of Kramer and Sammy. Sammy is a weasel who is fun and charming while Kramer, the dog, is more reserved and serious. Kramer notices some weird things going on in the house and rushes to inform Sammy that he believes it’s elephants. Together this dynamic duo go on a hunt for elephants.
Sammy puts on his official gear and they start to investigate. Are there really elephants in the room or is Kramer just imagining things? Leave it up to this furry duo to solve the mystery. They venture through the house and while the worried dog clearly sees the elephants, the weasel is blind to it all. Despite the obvious, Sammy concludes that Kramer saw a mouse.
I am rating this book a five out of five stars. I really enjoyed this short story. The trails of peanuts, funny disguises and obvious hiding spots really made me giggle. I also found it funny when Sammy said that they should advertise their detective services. There are no grammatical errors or typos and the book is written well. This book has a concise plot with great illustrations to match. I really like the contrast in characters, they’re so different but they work together. The illustrations are vibrant and animated which provides a fun depiction of their adventure. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a laugh. This book would be great for children to read.
