Roadmap to the End of Days by Daniel Friedmann is a religious narrative that explains the possible eventualities of the world and when it could come to an end. Friedmann utilizes many scriptures from the Bible and the Torah to support his theories.
The author begins by introducing a biblical timeline. He suggests that this timeline is a theme seen throughout history and plays an important part in giving us clues as to when the end of days will arrive. He discusses the cosmic purpose, the Messianic Era, and how critical periods have shaped the path we are on today. He goes back as far as before Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to begin his timeline. Through scriptural references, he explains that our actions today could either hasten or delay the end of days.
This was an interesting read. Friedmann’s knowledge of the Bible and Torah is apparent. He uses many references to both religious texts to explain and support his ideas. He also provides charts and figures to help explain and clarify his findings. I am not as well versed in either the Bible or Torah so some of his more detailed theories were difficult for me to follow.
The last half of the book included several appendixes, footnotes, and a detailed glossary that defined many of his difficult to understand subjects. The appendixes elaborate on some of the author’s thoughts and include a little more history for those interested. The footnotes reveal the many scriptures and other religious books and speeches the author used. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy theology and have a deeper understanding of religious history.
I give Roadmap to the End of Days by Daniel Friedmann 4 out of 4 stars. This book was well written. Although I found some parts difficult to understand, the chapters were short and concise which made it easier to read. His use of metaphors and analogies were uniquely applied in a way I had never heard; this helped me to better internalize his ideas. I also appreciated the tone. Writing about the end of days sounds like a grim and daunting topic but the author maintains a light and informative tone that does not make the reader feel depressed. I did not see any reason to give it less than four stars. Theology enthusiasts will find this an interesting book to add to their shelves.
