My trip to Adele
My trip to Adele, a work of fiction by A.I. Alyaseer and R.I. Alyaseer revolves around three different individual stories set in the cities of Marrakesh, Amman and LA. Its the story of Elias, a man who comes back to the place where he first met his love and tries to trace back her hoping to find peace in her. Its the story of Nadia, a single mom, fighting for her rights and trying to give her son, waleed a balanced life. In her quest she has to face her ex husband, and uncles and the men dominated society of Arab. Its the story of Yaser and Maryam, a couple who are trying to save their marriage from cracking up. The story goes back and forth in past and present as each of them recalls their bittersweet memories. All the characters are different and each one has its own
background, religious views and problems but the one thing that binds them together is their connection and love for Adele's voice. Everyone is trying to take control of their present and are dreaming of a perfect future. All the characters are so common and relatable, they feel as real as I am!
I liked that every character was judged and justified at the same time and thats exactly what happens in real life. The chemistry within each story is good enough to hold all the characters together making every scene alive. What i loved the most is the perfect harmony between each situation and Adele's songs lyrics. It amazed me how each and every lyrics felt as if it was written for that same character. The use of song titles is so original and on time it seems so intelligent!
It gives a peek into Arab culture and the three cities also and ofcourse the Adele factor take the story to the next level. The book is simple and real, nothing fancy or dramatic portraying real life scenarios. The flow is good, enough to hook you up and not dragging to let you get bored. Although its a good read but i found the story telling and dialogues not deep enough to be moving and long lasting. Its cannot leave a deep print on you. Its good for a one time read.
I would have rated it 2.5 out of 4 but the syncing of each scene with Adele's songs titles and the addition of song lyrics
at the end of every situation is so that i am compelled to give it a rating of 3 out of 4. It left me wondered that how songs can be so related to someones life!
I would like to recommend "My trip to Adele" for young audience all genders alike. Also it would be a treat for Adele's fans. The senior and serious readers may find it a bit lacking and ordinary. YES it sure did introduced me to the majestic Adele and i can say that it also bacame MY trip to Adele.
