Over the years, I have had the privilege to read several books. As with every avid reader, some books stand out more in your memory than others. That is exactly what and how I feel Orinthia: The Mental Series, is.

Following Orinthia through her struggles of acute anxiety disorder and how she sees herself, has opened my world to rethinking the way I look at people in general and some of my closest family and friends. Orinthia: The Mental Series has given me a lot of insight and knowledge, even though fictional, as to how a lot of people with disorders deal with life in general as well as how they deal with grieve. The most prominent thing about this book, if you truly read the story, is that adults generally almost always blame their parents for their upbringing and the lives they had as children. However, in this book, it gave me a good hard shock to the system by making me, as an adult, question whether we can really blame our parents for anything that happened whilst we grew up? At the same time, it begs the question: Did our parents not only do what they could with what they had?

Orinthia and Coy took me on a journey of mystery, adrenaline, anxiety, fear, grieve and excitement. This book has grabbed my attention and kept my attention throughout the whole book. I was unable to put the book down. This book has also opened me as a person to the different possibilities and struggles that people with mental disorders suffer. The grieve that Orinthia has been forced to face in this book, has personally touched me as a person, as I have recently suffered a loss of a very important family member. Orinthia and Coy reminded me that bottling up the grieve can consume you as a person.

I would rate Orinthia and Coy’s story as a 4 out of 4 stars as it takes you on a journey that you as a person never knew you needed until you start reading this book. This book has altered my way of thinking and seeing people with mental disorders.

I would recommend this book to everyone to read to get some insight into the lives of people that live with mental disorders. Take this journey with Orinthia and Coy, you won’t regret this journey.
