The retirement phase has historically presented challenges for ordinary retirees. When income streams cease, life can lose its allure, compelling individuals to rely on loved ones during this period. Nonetheless, retirement should not be synonymous with a diminished quality of life or dependence. Instead, it should be viewed as a time marked by gratitude and celebration for the accomplishments and hard work throughout one's earlier years. Achieving this ideal retirement requires the implementation of effective work and financial planning strategies. The book "Reconfigurement" provides valuable insights into job options and financial planning strategies applicable to a diverse range of individuals, both within and outside the United States, helping them prepare for their retirement years.

“Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer is an informative guidebook that gives information on the concept of reconfigurement, which means planning for a period that would normally turn out unfavorably and changing it for the better.

Many things made this book stand out. First, the author chooses an easily comprehensible word to give the book a title, despite the critical professional strategy it gives. Also, the explanation is conveyed interestingly, far from a typical academic or too-formal writing tone. There is eye-opening information about how people choose wrongly, which indirectly affects their chances of living and enhances their standard of living during retirement. He then provides how one can make sustainable use of their formative youthful period while working to create a future characterized by financial security through available financial programs, opportunities, jobs, and investment.

I especially like how the book addresses the principle of meeting one’s immediate needs with the available resources while still being able to provide for the needs of the future. It encourages the appropriate use of income and earnings so that the future is not put to the detriment. I love this financial revelation and the author’s expansion on it. I have no negative side to point out in the book because I have no objective reason to do so. It has been written with clarity and humor, using a conversational writing tone and jokes sprinkled throughout the book.

Hence, I will be rating the book 5 out of 5 stars. Furthermore, I have found no grammar errors, which testifies to its exceptional editing. I recommend the book to a public audience that likes to read interesting essays on the best financial and job practices that allow for a sustainable future full of opportunity that comes with being free.
