Title: My Trip to Adele
Author: R.I. Alyaseer, A.I. Alyaseer
This book follows the stories of 3 different characters. Nadia an independent mother that wants to take her son, who is a big fan of Adele, to her concert. This book shows Nadias problems with her ex-husband and her love for her son. Yaser a surgeon struggling to fix his marriage. Faith plays a great part in the crumbling marriage of Yaser and his wife, since she is such a faithful woman and he is losing his faith every day. Elias is a Moroccan man trying to face the past and find his lost love. He must figure out if the black curse cast on him is truly the reason for the end of his relationship with Malika.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It was a very enjoyable book, I liked how it revolved around three different characters that didn’t have anything in common except for their love for Adele. Every chapter was named after an Adele song and the events of the chapter fit very well with it. The only reason I did not give this book 4 stars was that it had some minor grammatical errors.
The way the book divides between the three families was well done. The characters where not one dimensional, they were flawed and showed a lot of humanity. Every one of them has to struggle with relationship problems and they need to figure out if the choices they made and are planing to make are the correct ones.
The way Yaser questions his faith and tries to reason everything with science and facts is very relatable in a day and age when so much information is available. I could really sympathize with Nadia with her struggle of wanting to do what is best for her son but not let her ex-husband take advantage of the love she has for him. I really enjoyed Elias character, his relationship with Malika was really sweet and it was interesting to see his reactions to every situation he found himself in.
This book was filled with romance, music and struggles. It touches on themes like faith, beliefs, longings, complacency, independence, freedom and compromise. The different cultures seen in the book give a variety and let us see the difference and similarities in the situations. I highly recommend this book to everybody in that is looking for a book that shows the emotional journey the characters take and their struggles to find what they are missing. The authors brilliantly captured the emotions of the characters and make you sympathize and care for the outcome of their journey.
