Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid? is written by Dr. Rachel Sims a licensed professional counselor. In this book, Dr. Sims uses her knowledge as a therapist to give the reader a better understanding of love and relationships by examining regularly held beliefs.

In Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid?, the author draws upon the real-life examples that she has encountered in her work as a therapist. She moves through the entire scale of relationships, from the point of being single and looking for love to the opposite end, divorce. In the book, each chapter deals with a point on the spectrum of love and relationships. She then analyses the myths commonly held and attributed to that specific situation. Two examples of commonly held myths are 'Play hard to get' and 'Never go to bed angry'. In each chapter, she gives an example of a situation and then discusses what might or might not work for some people and how that myth might be erroneous in another situation. After each myth, she discusses what the takeaway lesson would be.

There were several things I liked about this book. The layout was very simple and easy to follow, with nine chapters and the myths easily identifiable with numbers. There is also a useful checklist of critical points at the end of the book, which is another great resource.

The writing style of the author, with her humor and lightness of tone, made reading the book very enjoyable while maintaining an intelligent and respectful analysis of the situations being discussed. The use of references to contemporary movies and present-day situations made the topics more relatable.

I enjoyed how the author methodically examined and analyzed each myth. It brought light to the fact that some were just long-held beliefs that were no longer relevant in present times. I liked that she showed how and when these beliefs might be helpful and when they might not be.

I did not find anything negative about the book. The book seemed professionally edited which made the reading experience straightforward.

The information provided in this book was extremely useful and it was presented in such a simple yet intelligent manner. I happily gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this book to everyone at any point on the spectrum of romantic relationships. This is for anyone who is dating, married, single, or thinking about entering a relationship. The useful knowledge provided in this book would be exceptionally beneficial for those in relationships or getting into one.
