[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a captivating sci-fi novel. It follows the adventures of Kelly and Tom Turbulo, a newlywed couple, and some other intriguing characters. Kelly and Tom's peaceful honeymoon on an island resort turned into a nightmare when Kelly stumbled upon a dangerous terrorist group. She realized she was in trouble and contacted her brother, Senator Mike McBride, for help. Mike reached out to Assistant Director Joseph, a friend he trusted, for assistance. They discovered that the group was plotting to attack North America and had to stop them. Did they manage to foil the plan? Find out by reading the book.
This 16-chapter novel hooks readers with a suspenseful preface. The setting is the United States. Kelly and Tom, a newlywed couple, are on their honeymoon in Honduras. Meanwhile, a CIA agent in disguise is on a spy mission in the same country. Kelly accidentally discovers a shop that serves as a secret base for the Koreans, who are plotting to topple the US. With their connections to influential people and their expertise in national security, Kelly and Tom join forces with some allies to defend their nation from danger.
The book combines adventure and information in an engaging way. The maps of the story's location added to its authenticity and accuracy. The use and explanation of military terms in the book was what I liked the most, as it provided me with new knowledge. The novel didn't rely on many images, which didn't bother me. The book presented various characters that were admirable and inspiring.
The book taught me a lot about the phenomenon of an electromagnetic pulse and the potential threat of a solar flare. The characters displayed admirable qualities of teamwork and honesty. I didn’t have any issues with the book. The occasional swear words didn’t bother me much. The book was excellently edited, with no errors that I could notice. I would give it a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The book is suitable for fans of the crime and action genres, but less experienced readers may struggle with some of the concepts. Overall, the author did a great job with this work.
