Despite being advised not to go by her father because of the cultural differences between Jews and Arabs. Layla Rose Wallace decided to go to Dubai with her boyfriend Zamir. She is worried Zamir's parents might not like their only son presenting to them a Jew for a girlfriend. She ends of getting kidnapped not by any fault of hers but due to the fact that Zamir's family is rich. Zamir ends up being rescued by his family leaving her to fend for herself in jail and that’s how she meets Cyrus Hassani. She feels an instant connection to Cyrus after he saved her from getting raped in jail. Suddenly her life is in his hands, can she trust him with her life or not?

Cyrus must leave behind his current life to save Layla’s life, due to the fact that she's become a target for blackmail also due to her father’s work and how it would benefit the current country she finds herself in. He cannot deny the attraction he feels towards her, ignoring it only made it grow stronger till he has no choice but to act on it. We see him struggle to get her out of the country and back into her father’s arms in Israel.

There were some times when I could relate to Layla, having a boyfriend who you knew just wasn’t right for you, but still you decide to ignore it. Her character was easy to flow with as it plainly showed what foreign women go through in such a place. Although I felt Cyrus’s attraction to her had more to do with her physical appearance than it had to do with the heart. They had little to no time to get to know each other as they were on the run, it was just too fast. Cyrus’s demeanor was understandable once we you get to know his backstory, which is complex but interesting.

This book one of the tip of the spear series, it is a romance thriller which I enjoyed. It showed how far a country would go to build their nuclear power and rank in the world. I loved the way the author spun their escape, it was so realistic and unpredictable. Once I picked up the book, I didn't let it go even going as far as to delay reading the last chapter just so I wouldn’t get to the end of the book.

The end of the book was fitting and did not leave me wanting. This is a book I would still be able to pick up in the future for a reread. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Although, I felt the romance was rushed, the writing was superb and I enjoyed both the chase and the escape. I would thourgly recommend this bppk for adults who are fans of the romance genre.
