Billy Jack’s mother tucked him into bed and gave him his first of two goodnight kisses as part of their daily night routine. However, on this evening, Billy decided that his bedtime started too early for his liking. He devised a plan to sneak out of the house and visit his friends without his parent’s knowledge. His elaborate plan started with him stuffing pillows under his bedcover to make it look like he was sleeping soundly in his bed. Did Billy’s escape plan succeed? Find all the answers by reading Stevie Tenderheart Books A Second Kiss Goodnight (A Bedtime Story) by Steve William Laible.

After reading this book, I reflected on the adventurous spirit of children around Billy’s age. They are energetic and have an innate sense of adventure that needs to be channeled and encouraged. Without positive encouragement, children with an adventurous spirit can easily slip into mischief and trouble. However, if properly guided, the children can thrive and become wholesome individuals.

The language used in this book is clear and easy to understand. Children who are old enough to read the book for themselves will find it easy to read and follow the storyline. There were many enjoyable aspects of Billy’s adventure. The one that stood out for me was when he devised a brilliant plan to make his shadow disappear.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was adventurous and had a thrilling dash of mischief that is guaranteed to appeal to the book’s target audience. There were no aspects that I disliked in this book.

I recommend this book to children who are around the ages of five to ten years. It will stir up their imagination and creativity while enriching their vocabulary. This bedtime story can enable parents to discuss the dangers of sneaking out, bond with their children, and ensure they are fast asleep after reading this book and are not conjuring sneaky plans.
