In today's generation where anyone can write a book anytime & anywhere, a captivating, well-sequenced & riveting fiction novel can make a difference. It's an interesting book with a mix of education and romance.
The 11:05 Murders, Book 2 of The Inspector Sheehan's Mysteries, is a thought-provoking, easy-to-read-and-comprehensible mystery novel written by Brian O'Hare. His first book, The Doom Murders, was awarded The Indie Book of the Day Award in March 2014 and Reader's Favorite Bronze Award Winner in 2015.
The 11:05 Murders focuses on a pretty gruesome case handled by a group of detectives, headed by Detective Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan under Serious Crimes, Strandtown Police Station. Appalling serial killings that may seem connected, a twelve year old suicide whose caused cannot be determined, mystery informant who seemed to know everything, accidents of unknown origin, numerous suspects that cannot be ruled out and clues of unsure significance—the case seems to be more of a jigsaw puzzle than an ordinary murder mystery. Assumptions were made as bombshells are revealed, making it difficult for the team to focus on a single case. Suddenly, a two pipe problem seemed to be more appealing for our intelligent Inspector.
The characters seemed real and the story kept me guessing. The engaging police procedures, coupled with the way the facts and possibilities were presented, makes this book a page-turner. The twists of events as the case progresses kept me excited and the element of suspense was maintained until the very end. The setting was layout and described in a way that can be easily imagined by the readers. Team effort was highly recommended and the side story of romance did not obscure the genre of this book. Unlike other mystery novels, whose commonly focused on the viewpoint of the lead character, the story was told in various perspective and each chapter was cut at a good timing. Like Sherlock Holmes, the deduction was brilliant and detailed but I wish the case wasn't solved immediately after the climax. I hope the story was longer than 378 pages, though I'm not sure how to end it otherwise.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I believe it is a good read. I may have guessed who the culprit was along the way but that doesn't stopped me to revel in finishing it. It's easy to understand, making it less complicated, despite it's mysterious nature. I recommend this book to readers who are fans of mystery/suspense, especially to those who are fond of thinking like a detective and love to solve crimes.
