[Following is a volunteer review of "The Legacy of Job's Wife" by Cynthia Koelker.]

Is God to blame for your suffering? Why does He allow evil in this world? These questions intrigued me enough to check out this book. "The Legacy of Job's Wife" by Cynthia J. Koelker is a fictional retelling of the biblical tale of Job, offering a unique perspective from the viewpoint of Ix'ises, Job's wife. Being unfamiliar with the biblical story of Job, I was intrigued to explore how people cope with adversity and the role of God in supporting them.

Job and Ix'ises, childhood friends turned spouses, led a life filled with love. They had everything one could wish for: good fortune, good health, children, workers, animals, etc. Job lived a life filled with kindness and devotion to God. However, tragedy strikes, shattering their world in an instant. They lose everything on a fateful day. While Job's faith allows him to navigate the calamity, Ix'ises finds herself plunged into a pit of despair. She loses all will and hopes to live her life further. As she grapples with her anguish, she questions the role of God in her suffering. Is God to blame for her suffering? What might have happened?

After reading the blurb of this book, I was certain that something bad or tragic would occur within its pages. As I anticipated this, I felt tense until I discovered what caused Ix’ises such deep pain. I fell in love with each and every character in this book; they are depicted so beautifully that I felt their emotions as if they were my own. The author's writing style is simple yet deep in meaning, instantly capturing my heart. I loved this book as it is; there's nothing I would like to change about it. While I found a few editing errors, they were not serious enough to distract me from this beautiful reading experience. Therefore, I rate it 5 out of 5.

Whether you're drawn to themes of resilience, faith, or human struggles, "The Legacy of Job's Wife" offers a thought-provoking exploration. Its narrative, while grounded in biblical tradition, speaks to the universal experiences of hope and perseverance, making it suitable for readers from all walks of life.
