Solaris is a ship with attitude and a hearty sense of humor. She has been entrusted with a very important, yet difficult, task. She must guide Rynah in a quest to save not only her home planet, but all of the planets in the universe. You see, Rynah’s Grandfather was one of very few who believe that the tale of the six crystals is more than a child’s story. He believes that they exist and that one day, a madman will try to use them to destroy everything.

Solaris made a promise to lead Rynah and a group of humans to try and thwart the destruction of their worlds. The chosen four are pulled from planet Earth but they all come from a different time period.

Alfric, the big, burly Viking, is a force to be reckoned with. He has a heart of gold and is looking forward to the journey. He knows that Odin is looking out for him and he has no qualms about going up against a crazy, power-hungry maniac.

Brie is a timid, clumsy teenager who gets picked on religiously. Rynah cannot understand why Brie is a chosen one for the journey they are about to embark upon. Brie is even more baffled. All she wants is to return home to her mother and sister.

Solon is a scribe who would rather be out in the world living life than stuck behind a desk writing about it. He is often running late because he is easily distracted. Solon is looking forward to the adventure.

Tom is an inventor. His first interaction with Solaris is one of awe. He is fascinated with technology. He doesn’t even seem the least bit bothered by the mission. He is too busy absorbing his surroundings.

Rynah is shocked to find out that her Grandfather was sane after all. She has been entrusted with a sacred responsibility. To make matters worse, she is suffering a major blow to her confidence. The man that is after the crystals and wants to bring about destruction was her fiancé for a day, Klanor.

Solaris Seethes (Solaris Saga book 1) is an epic tale that has heart. I couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters and I was happy to accompany them on their journey. The writing, for the most part, seemed to flow in a way that was easy to read. The author knows how to write an engaging tale that can hold your interest throughout every page. I was often surprised by how well the book captured my attention. It is a very powerful and suspenseful book to read.

There were several times when the characters were cornered and I had no idea how they were going to escape their predicament. The intriguing storyline mixed with likeable characters really helps me look forward to the next book in the series. I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next book.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a few errors that I came across that didn’t make sense. Other than that, it was a fantastic book. Anyone looking for a futuristic, adventure tale would love this book.
