[Following is a volunteer review of "Stevie Tenderheart Books - Billy Jack (The Great Escape)" by Steve William Laible.]
“Stevie Tenderheart Books: Billy Jack (The Great Escape)” by Steve William Laible is a children's book filled with mischievous adventures. Billy Jack is an exuberant, smart kid and a creative thinker, which often gets him into trouble. In a bid to prevent being in bed during the daytime, he embarks on a journey to sneak out of the house while coming up with a foolproof plan to do it unnoticed.
Based on a true story, the author uses his descriptive ability to let us in on every experience Billy Jack was having and also give us a glimpse of what goes on in a child’s mind. Getting a child’s perspective on the authority adults wield over them was very interesting. The book is filled with real-time photos documenting the events, which makes it more relatable. All of these had humorous narration and scenarios. It's like having a conversation with a mischievous child while reading the story. The main character's mischievousness is depicted through the author's choice of words. This youngster will keep you wondering what his next move will be since he does the cutest, silliest things. Also, there is a proper definition of each word at the end of a page, making it a very educational book.
There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this book, so I gave it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The fact that the novel was based on actual events added to the thrill and sense of realism that I really enjoyed. Since I couldn't find a single mistake, I'm convinced that the book has been flawlessly edited.
I recommend this to a large audience of kids, between the ages of 8 and 12. It is suitable for bedtime stories or chilling on a sunny afternoon. It is also a relaxing read for adults, filled with good humor.
