My Trip to Adele by A.I. Alyaseer and R.I. Alyaseer is a fictional novel that tells the unique stories of three people from different places who are fated to watch Adele perform in person. My Trip to Adele, which was published in September 2016, is the first published work by the Alyaseer siblings together, and it was one of the few books that blew my mind away. Adele, a well-renowned singer-songwriter, continues to capture the tales of millions of people around the world, including the hardships these three underwent in search for happiness.
The novel opens up with Elias, a man who moved to Rome, Italy who goes back to his hometown in Morocco to break the curse cast upon him which separated him from his first love, Malika, a young girl who wants to learn the English language and to escape from Morocco to follow her dreams. The second of the three is Yaser, a surgeon living in the United States who wants to bring back the spark in his unhealthy relationship with his wife, Mariam. The last personality is Nadia, a single mother from Amman, Jordan who is willing to lose everything just for his son’s happiness and security.
My Trip to Adele offered more than what I asked for. The stories of the three main characters tackled timely themes like responsibility, freedom and love, and the book offered to show both sides of the coin in dealing with those ideas. The book showcased a well mix of culture, morality, religion, love and marriage into three unforgettable stories of love and freedom all into stories of modern time.
Each scene in the novel has immensely helped with the character development and story progression. The mood of the novel escalates smoothly, and it keeps you locked in, preventing you from stopping to read. The chapters were sequenced in a way which would really allow you to really grasp the scenarios building or breaking the characters and the conversations which play a significant role in the plot line.
Remarkably, the lines from Adele’s heartwarming songs capture the essence of each situation and has connected each situation as if it were a jigsaw puzzle. Those key events in the characters’ lives were made more memorable to the readers because of Adele’s iconic songs. By using Adele’s already inspiring lines to add quality to which the stories themselves already possess, there’s no reason for me to not give this book a perfect score, but I would rate it 3 out of 4 stars because even though the book has fully captured my heart, several spelling errors appeared while I was reading the novel. I advise that the book is to be properly edited even though there were only a couple of typographical errors.
