Laura Moss White's Mrs. White's Sub Snips: Substitute Teaching Cartoons From Real Life offers an insightful and humorous peek into the world of substitute teaching, drawing from the author's 15 years of experience substituting across K-12 classrooms. Through a collection of comic panels, White delves into the various experiences and challenges faced by substitute teachers, from interactions with students to unexpected events that unfold during the school day.

The comics provide a realistic portrayal of a day in the life of a substitute, capturing the highs and lows of the job, from heartwarming moments with students to the frustrations of navigating unfamiliar classrooms and lesson plans. In addition to the humor, White's cartoons also touch on deeper themes, such as the disadvantages of being a substitute, including the lack of benefits and potential discrimination from full-time teachers. These insights add depth to the collection, offering readers a more nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by substitute educators.

What I liked about the book was its illustrations. They stand out for their visual appeal and their ability to effectively capture the essence of each scenario. The minimalist approach to dialogue allows the artwork to shine, drawing readers deeper into the content and enhancing their engagement with the stories. I admired how the author seamlessly depicted the hardships and challenges faced by substitute teachers.

There wasn't anything to dislike about the book. It was flawlessly edited, containing no grammatical mistakes or typos, which enhanced the overall reading experience and contributed to its high quality. The book seamlessly blends appealing illustrations with a meaningful narrative, creating an engaging and insightful reading experience from start to finish. So, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is sure to resonate with anyone who has been a substitute teacher, is currently a substitute teacher, or is considering becoming one.

The dilemma of a substitute teacher is indeed real. I am glad the author could turn her pain into jokes. A beautiful review, by the way.
