Set against the backdrop of 1989 in California, the story revolves around Jack McHale, a fifteen-year-old who is the youngest of his siblings, Kai and James. His life felt miserable when his parents announced their separation. He found solace in surfing and navigating life after his parents separation. He befriends Cass at his school and supports James in his musical dream journey. To find out how Jack, at an adolescent age, navigates life's uncertainties, grab "Impact Zone" by B.D. Roy.

In "Impact Zone," B.D. Roy masterfully crafted a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and redemption through Jack's journey. The strong bond between brothers throughout the plot showed how their parents separation impacted each other. Jack's parents relocated to America from Australia when he was just ten years old, and he was quite shy of his Australian accent at his new school.

The author beautifully portrayed James love for surfing and how he felt comfort in it. Many terms and mechanisms of surfing were presented in the book, which might be knowledgeable to those who are unaware of surfing. The author's writing was fluid, free of grammatical and editing errors. There was nothing I disliked about this book. After completing the book,I realized how parental separation impacts children and their mental health. The characters were finely developed, and the dialogue delivery among the characters was perfect. At the end of the book, the glossary of terms used in surfing is available.

In conclusion, I rate "Impact Zone" five out of five stars. Through B.D. Roy's storytelling skills through the lens of Jack's journey, readers are reminded of the inherent strength of the human spirit and the power of hope to triumph over adversity. The novel's message is both poignant and uplifting, serving as a poignant reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always light to be found if one is brave enough to seek it.
