[Following is an official Online review of " Followed my star" by Annahita AR.
Followed my star is a non fictional book written by Annahita AR. Here, the author tried to express her own views on various happenings around her society. She aired her views on different fronts ranging from racism down to religion. She discussed thought provoking issues such as abortion, healthcare system, homosexuality, forced marriages amongst others.
I do agree with some of the author's point of view which were true. For instance, in chapter two where she discussed racism and how people tend to generalize or judge people based on the history of the person's country of origin. Her views on this was correct as she argued that even if a person is from a particular country or region renowned for any 'negative' behavior, it is improper to treat the person with disdain. Since there must always be an exception, therefore not everybody from that region would exhibit that behavior.
Furthermore, in chapter 5 where she wrote on healthcare system, I do agree with her views on this also as she called for the high prices of hospital bills and medication to be lowered, so it would be affordable by all.
What I do like about this book is the fact that the author simply poured out her thoughts into writing, in the sense that the book was original to the core as she freely expressed her views. Although, one can say that the title of the book tends to be misleading as it didn't capture the entire scope of the book. From the title " Followed my star", it is most likely that readers would assume that its a motivational book sort of. Chapter one started on a motivational ground before it shifted to discussions related to racism in chapter two. Chapter three was on a political note while chapter four was more on religion and so it kept changing. By this, it makes it difficult to determine which class of people this book would appeal to.
I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. This is because there are major corrections in terms of sentence construction and typographical errors , making it difficult for one to enjoy the book. To mention but a few, in chapter six, paragraph one, the last sentence reads "where it doesn't goes from one extreme to another". I think 'go' should replace 'goes' in the above sentence. In terms of errors, 'than' and 'then' were wrongly used interchangeably (chapter seven, line 2), so also was 'country's' and 'countries' (chapter seven, last sentence, second to the last paragraph), self's should read 'selves' ( chapter Sixteen line one), portrait should read ' portray(ed)' (chapter eighteen, paragraph 3, line 2) and many more corrections.
In conclusion, ' Followed my star' expresses the author's personal views on various happenings around her society. She does have a message to pass across and this book i think would be more appreciated if proof read and corrected by a professional.
