Breaking Sandcastles is a romance novel by Kirk Burris.
Marion Kelly and Jonathan Duquesne are the main characters of the book.
Marion is an art teacher at Westport High School. She is a lovely young lady, petite and charming. On the other hand, Jonathan is an exceptionally good looking and young student. With his tall and well-built body, he is able to draw everyone’s attention towards him. Jonathan is one of Marion’s students. She gets attracted towards him both by his looks and his astonishing ability in arts. Likewise, Jonathan also feels an unexplainable fascination towards her. Marion decides to keep her relationship professional with Jonathan despite of her feelings for him. She is not only concerned about their student-teacher relationship but also the noticeable age difference between them.
After completing high school, Jonathan gets separated from Marion due to some miss understandings and terrible circumstances. But they were destined to meet and get re-united after four years in France. They spend some quality time together overlooking the student-teacher relationship. Be that as it may, their lives have been totally changed in those times of separation. Would Marion and Jonathan admit their actual affections for each other? Would Marion be able to shed the wall between them and come over her doubts of their age difference? Would they conquer all the odds and live joyfully or the society would destroy them?
The book is composed in a third person point of view. It is divided into two main parts. The first one shows the perspective of Jonathan and the second one gives Marion’s viewpoint, which gives more depth to the characters and the story. Jonathan’s character is portrayed extremely well. His love for Marion, who is eleven years older to him, is something very uncommon and melts the hearts of the readers. Despite of all the obstacles and society issues, he proves his love for Marion. Also, both of them have pure souls due to which they make a lot of friends in their lifetime. This book wonderfully depicts how true love can overcome all the problems. This book starts in the present however in the long run backpedals to 1906's, unfurling the progressions that occurred in the lives of Marion and Jonathan.
I really enjoyed reading the book. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. Beautiful locations of Kansas, France, Paris and Monte Carlo have been utilized as a part of the plot of the story, which makes it additionally intriguing. The author has elegantly depicted the amazing scenes of these delightful spots. People who have interest in reading romantic novels and gain knowledge about some historical architects of 60’s in France and Paris would love this book. While reading this book I felt different emotions like happiness, warmth of love, anger and grief. I even cried after reading this book. I couldn't stop myself in the middle of perusing the book. This book shows that true love binds the souls of two individuals rather than tying their bodies’ together and even death cannot shred them. The author has beautifully conveyed the message through this book that nothing is permanent and human life is like sand castles so delicate and impermanent, which legitimizes the title of the book. This book has every one of the components like love, heartbreak, mystery, crime and disdain, which makes the plot more interesting. I love the way the story unfolds and the twists and turns in the plot.
The book is very much arranged and the story is elegantly composed. It seems that the author has done a lot of research on the landscapes and the monuments before writing this book. The book is separated into chapters and the sections are very much dispersed which makes this book simple to peruse. Besides, the dialect is likewise simple to peruse and get it. There are no grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. This is the debut novel of Kirk Burris and I would like to read more from her. I strongly recommend everyone to read this book.
