In Dorothy May Mercer's gripping novel "E M P Honeymoon," newlyweds Kelly McBride Turbulo and Tom embark on a honeymoon filled with unexpected twists and turns. When Kelly stumbles upon a clandestine room in a shop housing computers displaying alarming images of electrical grids across the United States and Canada, she unwittingly becomes entangled in a perilous situation. With the help of her brother Mike McBride and various government agencies like the CIA and Homeland Security, Kelly and Tom set out to uncover the mastermind behind the looming threat to their country.

Mercer seamlessly weaves together elements of suspense, mystery, and action in this standalone installment of the McBride series. Set against the backdrop of Honduras, where the couple is vacationing, the story unfolds at a breakneck pace, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Despite minimal character development, one antagonist, Sue Lynn Reese, stands out with her intricate backstory and connection to the threat at hand.

What sets Mercer's narrative apart is her ability to tackle serious topics with a light-hearted touch, balancing suspense with a sense of escapism. While delving into the complexities of national security and terrorism, Mercer ensures that the storyline remains engaging without veering into overly dark territory. Additionally, her inclusion of detailed information and credible sources at the end of the book adds depth to the narrative, offering readers insights into topics such as electromagnetic pulses and their potential impact.

"E M P Honeymoon" is a captivating addition to the McBride series, offering readers a thrilling ride through a world of danger and intrigue. With its "what-if" plot centered around the threat of an electromagnetic pulse, Mercer delivers a thought-provoking narrative that explores the fragility of modern society. Whether you're a fan of the series or new to Mercer's work, this novel promises an exhilarating reading experience that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment.

This book grabbed my attention from the start. I loved how suspenseful and captivating it was. Senator Michael McBride's quick responses were inspiring. Dorothy May Mercer did a great job explaining the characters. I was drawn to check out more of her books. The writing is clear and engaging. The plot made me feel like I was right there. It helped me understand magnetic impulses better.

I didn't find anything to dislike. Each chapter flowed seamlessly into the next, making it hard to put down. The author's storytelling experience shines through, even though it's fiction. The romance wasn't too over-the-top. The research was solid, with additional information available online.

Dr. Peter Kinney's lectures on nuclear physics, focusing on the dangers of nuclear energy in the wrong hands, were impressive. The book was exceptionally edited, with no grammatical errors. It's definitely a 5 out of 5 star read.

I recommend this book to science and technology. enthusiasts who enjoy suspenseful, action-packed fiction.
