Review of 2X2 on the Ark: Five Secrets of a Great Relationship
[Following is a volunteer review of "2X2 on the Ark: Five Secrets of a Great Relationship" by Mary J Giuffra, PhD.]
The book, 2X2 on the Ark: Five Secrets to a Great Relationship, is a wonderful and informative book. The author likens our brains and desires, to that of the animals on Noah's Ark. Mary J. Giuffra, the author, explains things in an easy-to-understand way. Her career spans over 40 years. She has studied, researched and worked with couples to give them the skills necessary to navigate their relationship. She discusses our 3 brains and how we use them and how to better understand why we and our partner behave and say the things we do. The 3 brains are reptilian, mammalian and our smart human brain. As the author compares the instincts of the animals aboard the ark to our behavior, she explains why the animals behave the way they do. The closeness of the couple relationship pushes us to face our values and beliefs. We should learn from the animals on the ark in that they lived in harmony.
2X2 on the Ark: Five Secrets of a Great Relationship was an inspiring book to read. Whether we are married or not, this book deals with relationships of all kinds. I found the topic of relationships to be pertinent to today's problems. We all have relationships of some type and we can all benefit from this interesting book.
In my reading experience of this book, there was nothing that I found distasteful. It was very easy to understand what the author was saying. The minimal errors made this book seem professionally edited. I did have hopes that more would be spoken about the animals and how they behaved amongst their packs.
I give 2X2 on the Ark: Five Secrets of a Great Relationship a rating of five out of five stars. The book is well-written and very relevant to things we all face. Whether we are married or single, we all have some type of relationship with other people. I believe everyone can benefit from reading this amazing book.
My recommendation for the audience of this book would be readers of all ages. The younger we start teaching our young people how to relate to others and why, the better off we will all be in the long run. As the animalistic behavior is discussed, we can see how we humans are really not that different. The difference being that animals instinctively react to their needs and the needs of their pack. I feel that we can all learn from the animals.
