Review of The Date Farm

[Following is a volunteer review of "The Date Farm" by Jack Winnick.]
The initial part of this book contained some events that sent chills through my body. A Los Angeles shopping mall had just been the focus of a terrorist attack that killed many people and injured a whole lot more. The Iranian terrorists responsible for this inhumane act killed themselves after the attack in a bid to ensure no clues were left behind. Lara and Uri, now an official couple, spent their vacation at Lara's family home in Ohio when they were called in to handle the case.
A little after that, the Chase Manhattan and Federal Reserve banks are both seized by Iranian terrorists led by Sheikh Zainal Abidin, a terrorist Lara, and Uri had encountered in the past. When Lara and Uri go into the banks to stop them, they are kidnapped. As investigations proceed, it is observed that the terrorists were not after the gold in these banks but something much more: rhenium. I encourage you to read this book to discover how this fits in and changes everything.
I had some reservations about this book, as it was the fourth in the series. However, it perfectly stands alone, as I had no difficulty flowing with the story. This book's plot depicts a fast-paced crime thriller where the bad guys strike first, and good prevails over evil. The couple, Lara and Uri, remain my favorites; their dedication and resignation to the safety of their country are commendable.
In the area of dislikes, I had none. I enjoyed this book, as the flurry of activity began right from the first page. The character development was short-winded, as some lacked good backstories and could confuse some people, but I had no problems personally. Considering everything I've mentioned above, The Date Farm by Jack Winnick receives 5 out of 5 stars from me. I encountered no errors reading this, proving it was exceptionally well edited. I recommend it to fans of crime thrillers and books on espionage.
