[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
In Dorothy May Mercer's standalone novel, "EMP Honeymoon," part of the McBride series, Kelly and Tom Turbulo's honeymoon takes a perilous turn when Kelly discovers a forbidden secret, leading them into a global conspiracy orchestrated by terrorists aiming to devastate North America. The narrative grips readers with its fast-paced action, witty dialogue, and thrilling twists, particularly highlighting the cleverness of characters like Sharon and Agatha. As the couple races against time to thwart the terrorists and prevent a catastrophic attack, Mercer skillfully portrays the terrifying potential of a nuclear electromagnetic pulse, keeping readers engaged with suspenseful cliffhangers and compelling storytelling.
From the very start, this novel captivates with its creative storytelling, drawing readers into a delightful narrative filled with genuine characters and an intriguing plot twist. Dorothy skillfully weaves a subtle romantic angle amidst high-stakes action as Kelly and Tom navigate a disrupted honeymoon that leads to a battle with friends to protect their country from disaster. The TV talk show interview exploring the theme of 'What if the power goes out?' stands out as a favorite, introducing new concepts like solar flares, including the Carrington Flare, in an unexpectedly enlightening manner. Seamlessly integrating author details and website resources, the novel becomes a treasure trove of informative content, ensuring readers remain thoroughly engrossed in its compelling mystery and suspense.
There is nothing to dislike about the book. I was on the edge of my seat as I followed the story. The author's writing prowess is excellent. The book is exceptionally edited; no errors were found in it.
I rate the book five out of five stars due to the unbelievable information that it contains. I recommend it to readers who appreciate action thrillers. Also, those who want to know more about terrorist attacks and how they operate should read this book. They will indeed find it helpful.
