The novel Lemoncella- Cocktail written by Rene Natan is fictional crime novel that depicts themes such as violence, murder, desperation and family life. This piece of work is portrayed from the viewpoint of various characters within the book but mainly center around Patrick Carter.

Patrick Carter is a poor and unfortunate soul who for most of his life has been dealt a bad hand, and on top of his many misfortune, he has now gotten entangled in a complicated series of events that will utterly change his life. After saving the life of teenager Samatha Mcleod who was pushed into a raging river by unknown assailants Patricks' life has taken a whirlwind turn, due to his act of bravery Patrick has now earned himself a spot on the hit list of an international arms trafficker as well as being caught up in the investigation of the CSIS. Will Patrick be able to survive all this madness and escape relatively unscathed?

This novel is a short read of a hundred of ninety-two pages and had the potential of being a really good book especially for someone just entering the recreational reading arena or just for someone looking for something light to read. The characters of the book were fairly developed, the book had well placed humour, an unexpected plot twist, and was enjoyable to some.

What I like most about this novel is the subtle reminder that life is every changing, and our mundane decisions or the decisions we make on impulse can completely change our lives in ways we would never expect, sometimes these decisions may even return to haunt us.

This novel did have some good points, however, getting to these points was a struggle. From the onset the grammatical structure of the novel was poor; the sentences did not flow, punctuation marks were misused, there were misused and misspelt words, typographical errors, a bland ending and amidst all that on page one hundred and fifty-two, a character known as Mr. Walker as well with his daughter were misidentified twice by the author as a Mr. and Miss Parker. After coming across such a great deal of grammatical error it is evident that this book was not professionally edited, with all the listed reasons brought into consideration I have decided to give this novel a rating of 2 out of 4, while I was tempted to give it a lower rating , it was enjoyable to some degree, what really turned me off was the vast amount of grammatical error, it made me felt as if the author did not respect me enough as a reader to review her work properly.

Hi Sin24, nice review. There's been alot of positivity on this book but I enjoyed the points you've raised. Being a light read, I might look into it.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy this novel. It definitely can be hard to get through when there are so many grammatical errors. Thanks for the review.
