[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
"EMP Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer plunges readers into a thrilling narrative that begins as a newlywed couple's honeymoon takes an unexpected turn. Kelly and her police officer husband, Tom, find themselves embroiled in a covert operation against America while vacationing in Honduras. When Kelly visits a shop being used for a secret mission, she contacts her brother, a Senator, triggering a series of events that reveal a Korean plot to overthrow the United States. I will not get deep into the narrative but make sure to read the book and I guarantee you; you won't be disappointed.
The book contains many military terms and abbreviations, making it complex for some people to understand. I noticed relatively less profanity in this book, making it slightly not okay for kids.
Mercer's storytelling is factual and detailed, incorporating military terminology and providing readers with clear maps to enhance the narrative's authenticity. The plot is gripping, with characters utilizing their specialized skills to contribute to the mission's success. One particularly memorable moment is the depiction of the Dear Leader's enthusiasm for his unfolding plan, oblivious to the subterfuge taking place behind his back.
The novel also educates readers on the potential consequences of a solar flare, adding an element of scientific speculation to the action-packed storyline. Mercer's character development is commendable, with each character playing a vital role in the plot's progression.
I found the book to be thoroughly enjoyable, with no notable shortcomings. The pacing is consistent, and the narrative is devoid of any significant lulls, making it engaging from start to finish. The book's concise length and meticulous editing further contribute to its readability and overall quality.
In conclusion, I would rate "EMP Honeymoon" 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to fans of science fiction, action, and crime novel. Mercer's expert blend of thrilling action, intriguing plot twists, and well-developed characters makes "EMP Honeymoon" a compelling read that is sure to captivate and entertain.
