[Following is a volunteer review of "Break up with him now" by Lena Lubinka.]
Break up with him now, by Lena Lubinka is an insightful read that tackles the difficult subject of toxic relationships with raw honesty. As someone who has witnessed friends and loved ones trapped in unhealthy relationships, this book connected with me on a deeper level.
Throughout the book, the author used real-life scenarios to describe the negative nature of abusive relationships. Using her exceptional writing style, she provided readers with the courage and awareness needed to recognise the signs of an abusive partner and take action. One particular scenario that left a lasting impact on me was the disturbing account of a woman’s partner mistreating their pet, Maggie. This example shows readers the harsh reality that anyone capable of such cruelty towards an innocent animal is likely to inflict similar abuse on their human counterparts.
Going deep into the book, I was touched by the author’s approach to addressing the emotional and psychological effects of abusive relationships on women. Her insights on the dangers of always being available to an abusive partner and the importance of reclaiming one’s self-esteem were both empowering and enlightening.
I rate this book five out of five stars, not only for its impactful content but also for the author’s use of real-life scenarios to drive home her points. I also appreciate how the author used coloured fonts for chapter headings. This simple but effective style added a sense of visual appeal to my overall reading experience. I commend the careful editing of the book, as I did not encounter any errors that could disrupt the flow of reading. I also did not notice any negatives throughout my reading journey. The author’s honesty, coupled with her empathetic writing style, made me enjoy every detail in the book.
I recommend this book to anyone who has experienced or witnessed the dark nature of toxic relationships. This book is also an invaluable resource for those seeking to better understand the signs of abuse and the steps necessary to reclaim one’s sense of self-worth and autonomy.
